Emily is a highly qualified, certified teacher with nine years of teaching experience. She has a Master’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education as well as an undergraduate degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Math. She has enjoyed working with students of all ages in different capacities and has cherished the variety of being certified pre-K through 12th grade. Emily has classroom experience teaching First, Second and Third Grades as well as 8th Grade Math. She loves working with students and challenging them to be the best they can be. Emily recently attended a full day code.org training to join a movement of over 750,000 teachers and over 25 million students that have used Code.org globally, making it the most broadly used coding education platform and computer science curriculum in K-12. We are looking forward to incorporating the Hour of Code this December!
Emily lives in Alabama with her husband and four sons. She enjoys reading, crafting, playing with her boys and watching their sporting events.
Christianna has a background in International Development. She has worked for USAID, the World Bank, International NGOs and was most recently a career diplomat with the United Nations. She has nearly eight years of experience in Education and has taught early readers in low-resourced schools and middle and high school students in History and English. She is passionate about EdTech projects and jumped right in to help when US military and foreign service families from the US Embassy in Gaborone asked her to run a summer program with kids at post. That’s where the idea sparked to launch Twiga Tutors for DoS and DoD kids all over the world. She has a B.S. from Georgetown University and M.A. from Johns Hopkins SAIS in International Relations. She spends most her time getting Twiga Tutors going, but will occasionally moonlight as a tutor.
In her free time she hangs with her family exploring the African continent where she has spent most of the last 15 years.
